Is it better to have a 10.2 megapixel with a 3X optical zoom and 3X digital zoom?

Herma Ellebrecht: Optical zoom is the only zoom type that matters. Digital zoom is the same thing as taking a picture, putting it on your computer and zooming in on the image. It makes it blurry and pixelated.

Amina Motzer: While Ron is correct, in order to fully answer your question, I personally think that the larger (optical) zoom range is better. 8 vs 10.2 megapixels is really not a big difference (I would suggest it will have little practical difference at all) whereas a 5X vs 3X optical zoom will have a very large impact.That being said, which one is which? I personally (matter of preference) would take the Nikon over the Samsung as I would expect that the lens quality will be better leading to sharper pictures....Show more

Melina Minneweather: there is a lot extra to it than in basic terms zoom and megapixels. There are some very good cameras with those user-friendly specs, and there are some that are quite rubbish. it would help extra in case you adv! ised us *which* digital camera you're asking approximately.
