Where in Texas can I get checked for Lyme disease?

Branden Roddick: not sure, but I'd do research on it. You might be able to be checked at the local doctor's office, but I've heard of tests that most doctors aren't aware of too. So definitely do your research.

Dallas Bartolini: What symptoms are you experiencing that make you think you have Lyme disease specifically? Although not unheard of, Lyme disease usually does not occur in Texas. There are other tick-borne diseases that do occur more frequently in Texas, though, including one that behaves much like Lyme disease, called Southern tick-associated rash illness (STARI). Symptoms of STARI may include an expanding rash, fatigue, headaches, fever, and/or muscle pain. Unlike Lyme disease, there is no test for STARI yet and it is unclear whether antibiotics are necessary/helpful. Because it looks similar to Lyme disease, some doctors may choose to treat it though. You should see your primary care provider to discuss any possible tick-borne diseases. If you have! been traveling recently, particularly to an area where Lyme disease is common such as the northeast or upper-midwest, be sure to mention this to your doctor so that they know Lyme disease testing may be warranted....Show more
