Do Volvo's typically last longer than other cars?

Jules Ashbach: nope truth is its all about how one takes care of a car in how long it lastand truth they are good cars but up keep is twice that over most cars madewhen buying used cars check shape type into search boxhow to check a used carget a checklist to help you look for signs of problemsthink you be crazy to buy a volvo since it cost to much to keep them running...Show more

Michal Semple: volvos are sturdily built cars, but their weak point is the engine. Rebuilding it is expensive because all the parts are imported and not many mechanics specialize in European vehicles. There are companies that offer kits to replace the engine with a ford v 8.

Arleen Bussing: Safest inexpensive car - Honda civic. Check around - you can get more for your 8 K than a well used Volvo. I have owned both a Volvo and 2 Honda civics. Wife totaled the 01 civic when a large vacuum truck rolled onto it from the opposing traffic lane. The impact broke the motor BLOCK ! Wife! still alive. Adjuster said the only part of the car that could be salvaged was the trunk lid and the left rear tire. Hondas are cheaper to purchase, cost less to operate, and are just as safe as the Volvo. So, yes - buying the Volvo would be crazy !...Show more

Georgianna Zollo: Volvos are terrible cars. They're not even that safe, just an urban legend. 113k miles is way too much for a Volvo. Wouldn't even pay $4k for it.

Bryant Chaudhry: As a former Volvo owner of a 750 Turbo( who ordered it from Sweden and waited 6 months) it will last as long as you don't mind putting money into it. Cost for parts and repairs should make you think twice . I should know. I had one for twelve years. " Think twice when buying a use Volvo, because you don't know how mush of it has been used."
